How to Embrace a New Book Kink

Welcome to the smuttier side of romance, , with alien peens and the readers who love them!

It all starts with one book with an unexpected trope that the mention of it is slightly off-putting only because you have never read it, and in real life it would definitely be a no without a bunch of trust built up.

All things are off the table without a bit of trust.

My first foray into alien romances, I wasn't even aware that alien romance was a category. I simply wanted a science fiction adventure with better romance than I was getting in the genre previously. Most covers were just bare-chested guys with tattoos, I wasn't really aware that they were aliens at all.

I'm sad to report a majority of science fiction adventures at the time that were more easily searched and found were written by men, and sadly the romance part of the equation was just lacking. Not to say that there weren't good stuff out there, I just wasn't finding it. Much of the science fiction I was reading felt less dimensional to simply ignore romance all together, and the ones that did include it seemed to be very uh... her hips swayed and her bosom bounced, and you saved me so I owe you my life trope.

There is a time and place for every trope, even that one, but then I came across my first alien romance was by Elin Wyn, the Star Breed series. Then the Victoria Aveline with the Clecanian series in 2021 and then I read so very many alien romances in 2021 from Margo Bond Collins, to Ella Blake, and Harper Belle.

Then in 2022, I began writing my own! I wrote Jewel of the Alien Bandit, then Her Alien Exchange in November's NaNoWriMo, Released Jewel of the Alien Bandit in January 2023, Her Alien Prince in May 2023, Her Alien Savior in August 2023, Her Alien Warrior in March 2024, Her Alien Insurgent in May 2024, and Her Alien Starbreaker coming in Dec 2024 in the Beyond Earth Anthology.

And plans for more next year!

Her Alien Captor, Her Alien Delegate, and Her Alien Allegiance for 2025.

But it all started with one book that I took a chance on and got sucked into the genre.

Then, I read a fantasy romance book with the spiciest exhibitionist scene I had ever read that quickly became my favorite trope ever.

The question became in my mind, what would it be like if society did not shame or villainize natural instincts within mammals? We look at documentaries of animals doing it, and it isn't considered graphic, but natural. You can bring your kid to the zoo and you are taking a chance that they see that natural event live and up close behind a see-through wall.

So, I loved playing with the exhibitionist trope within my writing. This idea that there is nothing wrong with pleasure, and with desire as long as there is trust and consent.

Coming from a strong religious background, this thought was freeing, and healing. Years of repression and mentally flogging myself for invasive thoughts literally numbed the nerves of my body to the point where it didn't matter if I was married or not. I felt nothing.

Alien romances were stuffed full of acceptance, love, and passion. Spicy books, were a healing experience that helped me on my journey towards feeling again, and truly loving myself.

My goal with my own alien romances books is to spread that healing acceptance through fun alien adventures filled with fated mates, a bit of exhibitionism, and two people loving each other through all of their flaws and differences.

I know many may think of exhibitionism and find a scene where the fated mates are being observed by others as a strange event that gives a cringe feeling, but for me personally, I see this as a step towards changing that social pressure from disgust into one of beauty. Anyone who is observing in my stories is not shaming anyone, but embracing the strong emotions that are overflowing and are in need of being expressed. This is more prevalent in the Necia Warrior Series, as the necia warriors are very expressive socially, but for those who want less the Treasures of Trillume Series is less overt about the exhibitionism. My books are not reverse harem tropes, they are fated mates, but I do have a few plot bunnies that divert the couple before they reach their Happy Ever After.

Like in Her Alien Savior, the FMC was given an infusion of necia blood that happened to be the blood of someone else's fated mate, giving the other necia warrior a sense that she was her fated mate. This confusion leads to a shared scene between the actual fated mate, and the confused fated mate with the FMC. I see this scene as a representation of how someone can fall for attention when being starved for it for so long, and that doesn't make the FMC less than simply because she enjoyed the experience before being whisked away by the love of her true fated mate.
