Have you ever had that happen to you? Feeling unwelcome now, or in the future, simply because right now wasn't good for you?
I had that happen to me recently, and it causes this confused feeling of both relief, satisfaction, and disgust that you were in an unhealthy situation.
I joined up with a copywriting subscription to help me be better at providing value to your email inboxes, so that you are happy to be on my newsletter, and it was both the best investment I made, but also an eye opener too.
It showed me how to be valuable, but also trapped me in this unhealthy cycle of believing without this subscription I would be less valuable.
When I came to terms with the fact that though I believed the subscription provided value, the amount of value they attributed to it was out of my budget, and was the final decision to cancel, and I probably would have been a cancel "for now" customer, completely fine with returning another time when my budget allowed, or even open to doing a quarterly subscription instead of monthly.
Those options weren't available, and that's okay, but what I found not okay was the no-return policy the subscription had. I don't me no-return as in refunding, I mean no-return as in you cancel and you can't resubscribe. Everyone is entitled to their own rules. No shirt, no service. Right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. It's their business, they can do what they want.
But as soon as I sent my cancelation, and the email came saying it was cancelled and at no point in time, for any reason, I was not allowed to return, something triggered in me.
My first thought was. OMG, I just escaped a cult, or a horribly unhealthy relationship.
And at the same time, I appreciated the lessons I learned from this subscription. So, you can imagine my mixed emotions.
The subscription took advantage of a powerful emotion, the sense of belonging, and if you leave, you don't belong and will NEVER belong again.
It's a yucky feeling, and just a reminder you are always welcome to open and read my emails at your leisure, change your subscription to monthly, or new release, or simply unsubscribe and return another time. Life happens, and it's good to take care of you, in whatever capacity that looks like. Simply email me, and I can adjust how often you'd like to hear from me. I create this newsletter for the both of us, and I want this to be a positive relationship.
I hope you'll stay, and continue to be part of my author journey, open and read what email you want, delete the ones you don't, and read whatever books you want, when you want.
The world is negative enough as is it, and the purpose of the fantastical journeys in sci-fi fantasy adventures is to get the hell out of this world and allow our minds to escape.
That's why I write. To give you another journey to escape into and share the same journey I escaped to myself. There is something powerful about belonging in the same universe, being part of the same story, regardless of how we interpret that adventure.

That's right, this short adventure is a quick escape that you can read in under 2 hours. It has both perspectives of the FMC and the MMC. The FMC is first person, while the MMC is in third person. I was testing out both POVs for this book, and I found they both have a special place in my heart, but I definitely prefer writing in first person.
