Welcome to the fantastical side of romance with magic and myth, ,
Why write about Medusa? Why write about a villain being a hero?
Why write about Hades being more of a grey god, swayed toward good or evil?
The Greek mythology of Medusa says that she is a monster and one of three gorgon sisters.
Depicted often as ugly with terrifying wings, and snakes for hair. Once a beautiful maiden loved by Poseidon, cursed by Athena to be forever hunted by men for offending her.
Most noteable of the myth is that she is killed by Perseus when he cuts off her head, and it is used as Athena's shield in battle.
What isn't discussed as often is that her name means "Guardian" and why is it that the gorgons are called her sisters, when they were born as gorgons, and Medusa was "made" one?
If Medusa was "made" to be a gorgon, then technically the gorgons are NOT her sisters at all, but simply of the same species. And if she was so hideous that it turned men to stone with just a gaze, then there would be no myth of what she looked like at all, would there? As the accounts of her ugliness could not be described by men directly, but merely a shared account from other gods that men have shared the story of.
And on top of that, it was men sent after Medusa by the will of gods to test them, that she was hunted. How does that make her a monster? Perhaps all the stone decorations in her cave are simply her defending herself from people who tried to behead her? Maybe she was never ugly at all? Maybe the stories are told by the ones in power, and Medusa is a god like the rest of them, just different.
I couldn't get it out of my head that maybe Medusa was never "turned" into a gorgon at all, and she always was one. Maybe she wasn't as "mortal" as the myths talked about, and the story in my head of what might have actually happened from her perspective formed.
Monsters were simply gods from a different lineage and were being hunted by the Olympians. Who are the heroes now? Read Taking Medusa and find out!

Getting too much email? Reply back to this email with "Monthly" in the message and I'll move you over to my once a month letter usually sent out around the 15th of the month.
Please do not click that SPAM button. I'm a small indie author, even 1 single spam complaint out of my small 3,000 sized list of subscribers sends my newsletter OVER the "green" zone of below .01%. Anything over this percentage causes other readers who want to hear from me to potentially not see my emails as it hurts deliverability to their inboxes.
You are on my email list because you opted in either by grabbing my free book, finding me on the interwebs, or by joining a book giveaway geared towards meeting new authors such as myself. If you found yourself here by any other means, you're welcome to unsubscribe at anytime. I do not go around adding emails all willy nilly. I'm a one-person show here, and can't afford to have people on my list that don't want to be here. I follow all guidelines and laws regarding newsletters.
Disclaimer: sometimes my links have affiliate tags associated with them, this in no way influences who I decide to share with you on my newsletter, nor does it impact your experience with discovering new books. If anything, any affiliate links used help authors, including myself, subsidize the costs associated with staying in business. For instance, using a tagged link helps us see whether someone found our books from our own marketing efforts or through some other means, also with Amazon specifically, that puts a couple extra pennies from grabbing one of our books back to the author from the big company. More of your money goes to the author, and your costs remain the same. My affiliate links have regularly covered the cost of maintaining this newsletter. So, if anything, click on a link for my books, and even if you are not buying my book, feel free to go about your usual Amazon shopping to help support my books through stuff you would normally buy anyways. Stick it to "the man" and support indie authors while you do it. This has been a PSA announcement from yours truly. Sky
