Welcome to the smuttier side of romance books with alien peens and the mates that love them.
According to my daily news articles geared towards what I may find interesting Google has found one about the moon drifting away from Earth!
As some of you may know the moon's magnetism with Earth effects the axis of our tilt towards the sun and therefore much of our weather and topography of the planet.
As the moon "drifts" farther from us, (very slowly, mind you, over the course of millions of years) the length of our days will increase. Eventually making what our normal 24 hour day be 25 hour days over millions of years.
The moon's pull on Earth gives us the "day" as we know it now. Without our moon, we would be turning on an axis that is horizontal to the sun instead of on tilt with the sun, which would result in 6 months of the year being darkness and 6 months of the year being daylight if we had no moon at all.
This would destroy our current food production and crop cycles, and completely remap how our world looks, from where water floods or doesn't, the ice caps, the entire ecosystem we currently have. Many species would go extinct, and humans would have to adapt to this new world if anything ever happened to our moon.
This curiosity of what Earth would be like without a moon definitely makes me want to write a story about a new species with a similar planet to Earth, but one that never had a moon. Sounds fun! What would that kind of society be like? I'll be honest, I always wanted to be friends with someone who was an expert on anthropology and civilizations, so that I could chat what ifs with them, but I'm still on the hunt for a bestie who would find that fun to literally create a civilization from scratch based on what ifs and then allow me to have fun creating stories from it.
My friend Jeff has created a world for D&D, but he's yet to allow me access to his in-depth notes of this world. Maybe one day.... haha. One day he'll let me tinker with his worlds and create some smutty romances with adventure and political intrigue within his realms. Until then, I will create my own.
