Hi , welcome back to my author newsletter with alien peens, monsters, magic, and the readers who love them! Don't forget to check out my NEW website! It's all pretty and redesigned! www.steviemarie.com
Check out my fellow indie author's fun book! Kate Sinner's Loved by the Alien Huntsman for freesies:
Kate Sinner is an alien romance author that I look up to! Her Captured by the Alien Barbarian has 379 ratings on Amazon! She has 10 books out and I think it's incredible how far she's come.
We started in the alien romance books around the same time! Her book came out May 2023, and Jewel of the Alien Bandit came out Jan 2023. I'm totally jealous of how many more readers she's been able to reach, but that jealousy isn't yucky, it's more inspiring and I'm so happy for her and it gives me hope that I can grow too! I just need to convince her to tell me all of her secrets.
Hint: most authors don't have a secret; it's just keeping at it and having readers spread the good alien peen word. Us indies rely on you, the reader.
I'm a few books behind her writing schedule since we started in 2023, but that's okay. Technically, I've written the same amount of books, just in a different genre, and even if I didn't, comparing myself to another author is mostly just for funsies to set new goals for myself. I do not put extra pressure on myself to match her, or feel bad that I'm not where she is. Mostly, I tell myself, "Hey look! Look where you can be with a little more time and effort!" I have my Taking Medusa Romantasy books from my pen name S.M. McCoy. Soooo, with those two books we're pretty much around the same amount of books out. And my most rated book is Jewel of the Alien Bandit with 162 ratings on Goodreads and 133 ratings on Amazon! A close second is Her Alien Prince with 130 ratings! My highest rated book is Her Alien Insurgent with a 4.75 average rating! My book with the most "currently reading" on Goodreads is Her Alien Savior with 91 readers who have it shelved as "currently reading" and is only 1 reader away from reaching 100 ratings on Amazon!

Indie Book Math: If an indie makes around 2.70 with each 3.99 book, and an average indie book costs around 800 to bring to life (this is a conservative number, sometimes it costs more depending on book cover, editing, or marketing costs. Her Alien Delegate would need to sell 580 e-books to breakeven for bringing it to life.

I'm currently writing Reaping Olympus, the final book in my Medusa Retelling under my penname S.M. McCoy. I've also been thinking about making more short stories like TKManAteHer. I got distracted the last week with writing a spicy demon romance, currently called "Unworthy", now with 10k words. This happens to me more often than I'd like. Inspiration strikes and I kind of just go with it.
This month I hit a mile marker! I've written OVER 500,000 words using my Freewrite Typer. No, I'm not advertising for them or have any affiliation with Freewrite. I'll be honest, I have a love-hate relationship with the company. I LOVE having a distraction free writing device that automatically links my files to the web, without having to manually upload the data like with my Alphasmart Neo, but I HATE that their products have proprietary keyboard parts that means when a key fails, you have to send it to them for repair and the repairs are 2/3 the price of the unit itself for a botched key. I used to have the Freewrite portable, and I can't use it anymore because fixing the keyboard would be nearly 175 to do, and I got the unit as a Kickstarter for 299, and I can't bring it to a computer repair place because of proprietary keyboard stuffage. I was given the regular Freewrite as a Christmas present from my hubby, and I do love it, but also... I'm secretly excited to find a different distraction free writing device that I won't be so freaked out about accidentally having something fail on me. I'm excited for the BYOK device that should start shipping in September!
But, the main point is I'm excited that I've written over 500,000 words in my Freewrite! And one thing I really like about the company is that they recognize accomplishments, and they have commemorative pins that all you pay is shipping to have.
SOOooo, OF COURSE, I'm getting it, because I love celebrating my accomplishments!
Next books I have planned: Her Alien Captor with Commander Ten-sel and Jayden, and Her Alien Nectar with Prince Gho-ran, Commander Li-aq, and Faith.)

All of my books are standalone alien romances, each a separate complete romance, read in any order, and with their interconnected plots, each book layers and you find out more about the world the more you read. Have questions from one book? Read another one, and you're sure to find more answers, and perhaps more questions as the universe unravels. That's what I love about sci-fi adventures set in the same universe, there's so much room to play!
Happy Reading and Thank you for being part of my author journey,
xoxo
