Hi , welcome back to my author newsletter with alien peens, monsters, magic, and the readers who love them!
Author Platform HR: Hello, Sky, it appears you've worked several hours of overtime beyond the hours we've allocated to paying you for.
Sky: How many are paid for?
HR: Well, about that. We'd like to offer you a certificate of accomplishment for your dedication and here is your 8 hours of pay for the last quarter.
(Hands over a certificate and a note)
Sky: This isn't a check. This is an IOU note, and it is addressed to you...
HR: Yes, well, all that wonderful overtime does cost the company resources to provide, and it seems you'll have to come up with an outside income to continue to work with us or we'll have to shut down some of the services we provide for your efforts.
Sky: What?
HR: We'll have to take that company shirt back as well. You do have a book event that requires it for a reader giveaway.
Sky: Understandable... (nods) So, how close am I to paying off my IOU to starting this business?
HR: At your going rate? Or including average depreciation of your current book cycle and hoping you have similar launch results with the next book?
Sky: Yes
HR: Which one?
Sky: Yes.
HR: ahem, okay, both then. If you maintain this rate without depreciation, and without launching another book, you're looking at a couple more years of servitude to the book gods.
Sky: And that's servitude without a coffee budget?
HR: That goes without saying, doesn't it? I mean, if you had enough for coffee then you wouldn't have an IOU, right?
Sky: Right...
HR: Oh, we aren't cruel, you are welcome to continue to take out more IOU's for your coffee budget. Now, it's typical for previously launched books to bring in enough to pay your average monthly costs to maintain your business. So, you can hardly expect them to help pay down your IOU platform costs from startup. In order to pay off your IOU by the end of year 2026, you would have to launch two books that have similar results to Her Alien Delegate's success of breaking even in one month. You are aware that most of your backlist of alien romances are only bringing in half of your current royalties, while the other half is on the dick of your sexy unGor reverse harem book?
Sky: Yes, I'm aware that most days the only book read is Her Alien Delegate... I swear I try to tell readers that I've written other books, like space vampires in Her Alien Warrior with an older FMC in her forties who falls for her daughter's mentor.
HR: And you've told them about your horny telepathic mate bond aliens with wings, fangs and a dong as big as a fist?
Sky: Yes, I've told them about Her Alien Prince too!
HR: Well, I've noticed that you've done little to talk about your first book, Jewel of the Alien Bandit. It's a noticeable drop in readership for the book. It remains your lowest performing book now, despite being your most rated with 139 ratings on Amazon, and an audiobook adaptation with Nowhere Eternity's sexy deep voice narrating for Vareo.
Sky: (cries) Yes, it's tragic. I'll do better, I swear.
HR: Swear it on the fancy tentacle dong!
Sky: I couldn't...
HR: You must!
Sky: It is sacred...
HR: Swear it!
Sky: I swear it! (sobs)
HR: Next time we'll discuss your upcoming projects and your progress on how to reach your goals of bringing more alien dongs to the hungry readers of sci-fi romance.
Space Bunny: Psst. Yes, you, reader. You can support a real human author by reading Sky Robert Alien Romances, and hell, also help her save on marketing costs by giving her books a shot in Kindle Unlimited or grabbing books direct from her author store before having to see one of those Facebook ads pop up in your feed. All of my books are standalone alien romances, each a separate complete romance, read in any order, and with their interconnected plots, each book layers and you find out more about the world the more you read. Have questions from one book? Read another one, and you're sure to find more answers, and perhaps more questions as the universe unravels. That's what I love about sci-fi adventures set in the same universe, there's so much room to play!
Happy Reading and Thank you for being part of my author journey,
xoxo
