This was the series that started it all! I had a dream, a desire to write, and it took me 8 YEARS to complete writing from book one to book three. Believe it or not Book one took up the majority of that time, taking several years and the last two book were completed within a year each.
That first book is always the hardest! Because I would get distracted with another shiny idea, and I would have several unfinished projects. I had yet to finish a single book in years and years.
One day I decided to pick one, a single idea that I started, and told myself I would not work on anything else until this ONE is completed. Maybe not perfect, but first draft completed. That was the goal.
Blood Crescent started off as a dream, just a single scene of Chrystal and Damien floating off the ground in a swirl of foggy colored magic, and this feeling in my chest that was tight and uncomfortable and yet alluring as he swoops in for a kiss that consumes her. It was that feeling of wanting to be wanted, but knowing something is both right and wrong at the same time.
This series is truly about a coming-of-age dark fantasy, or magical realism turned fantastical, and a young naive teen that doesn't understand anything until she does. You are whisked away within her 1st person POV, and she is frustrating and annoying at first and grows to become strong, determined, and ready to take on the supernatural world.
It's a slow-burn that builds on itself until you are sucked in and can't get enough. So, be warned, if you are not the type to wait for payoffs, this is not the book for you. If you are not the type to read between the lines and see the breadcrumbs that Chrystal ignores then this book can be confusing, and frustrating, and for some this will be considered poorly executed, you either love it or hate it.
I wrote this book because I was tired of all the YA fantasies that spoon fed what things meant to the reader. I wrote an adventure that is shown and follows the mind of the character, and the character DOESN'T know everything, but things are said and done that you can infer and guess along with her until things are revealed. There are twists, and turns, and hunky vampires all with their own agendas.

Book one is a wild ride, and if you like things to be a bit more explained you can actually START reading on Book two and then Go back to book one if you like more context before reading on. You don't actually NEED to read book one to enjoy the story of book two and three, but you HAVE to read book 2 before you read book 3! You can choose to read book one after book two, and knowing what you know, it has a completely different feel, but not in a bad way. <3 Happy Reading!

It starts off slow, then takes off like a rocket and sucks you into the new world of Acatalec, full of adventure, romance, magic, and a futuristic Seattle with sciencey possibilities like drones as the future of transportation, brain implants like what we see Elon Musk engineering, and contact lenses that connect with it.
