Read Saved by the Caladrius

Wings tend to have lots of philosophical undertones that go back to angels and healing, but also this idea of freedom, not being held down by gravity.

I created my own winged species in the Trillume Universe called the krelins, which are more of a hive-like species with a queen "bee" and a telepathic bond between warriors. I've made this species a villain in another planet's eyes, and a victim in another, and simply misunderstood from another point of view.

To the planet Estreldez, the krelins are ruthless creatures that are trying to invade their planet for resources, and subjugate the estrelds.

To the krelins, following a queen is simply how it's always been done. The queen is a leader, life, and their future. Many of the warriors do not view their invasion as an invasion at all, but simply expanding the hive and saving their future as well as the future of estrelds.

Krelins have wings, but many of the female krelins molt their wings by puberty, while males do not. A queen, or potential queen, keeps her wings. They also have horns which they call kan and they are used like echolocation, allowing them to perceive their surrounding environment and have exceptional hearing. They are also used as a means of communication within the hive, creating a telepathic bond within the species.

A fated mate is called kansa, roughly translated to heart bond.

You can find out more about the krelins in the book Her Alien Prince, where the rejected son of the krelin queen seeks peace between planets Krelis and Estreldez through mating. Only the one he believes will bond their species isn't who he thinks it is, and he must struggle between heart and duty to his planet.

Art is done by the lovely Phantom Dame! I turned it into awesome stickers that I gave out to the wonderful readers who grabbed the paperback!!

Three months ago, I spent a whirlwind week with a man who changed my life forever. He awoke a whole new kind of magic within me, and I fell for him. Hard.

Then, he disappeared.
