Hey ,
This is the weekly Thursday NL for S.M. McCoy for all things fantastical sci-fi fantasy and paranormal adventures with a splash of romance.
Today's Newsletter is FULL of goodies to check out and fresh indie books to look into. Maybe you find your next read? From twisted fairy tales to witches, Underrealms, and shifters, oh my!
On the personal update side of things, I'm training for a marathon. Don't be too impressed yet, I have it scheduled out for July of next year, and I barely handle 3 miles right now. But I'll get there.
On a writing/authorly side of things, I've been working on a standalone alien romance for an anthology coming out in December, and once that is finished, I've been spending a bit more time doing some audiobook narration as I need to funnel some funds back into the family cookie jar, so to speak.
I've finished up narrating for a YA fantasy adventure The Burden of Destiny: Elven Quest book one by Laura Thompson if you like coming of age magical chosen one adventures it's a fun story. It is definitely more on the younger side of YA, the characters act very young, so it's a great book for 11+ (though there are themes of death and violence with the battles against evil.) I'm looking forward to seeing how the characters grow in the coming books myself. You can check it out on KU here: https://www.amazon.com/Burden-Destiny-Elven-Quest-Book-ebook/dp/B07NTXZDX8 I'll let you know when the audiobook is officially launched!
I've reserved November for National Novel Writing Month to work on book two of Taking Medusa! I'm excited to work on it, so I might not wait until November, but I've committed to quite a bit of things, so I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I'll keep you posted. Have you been following along with the read along for Taking Medusa? Or joined the giveaway to enter for the signed hardcover? You can do that here: https://kingsumo.com/g/uf5wch/win-signed-hardcover-launch-party-taking-medusa I've been reading the chapters cold-read style on my Instagram Live, so you can listen to the book chapter by chapter for the read along there! Why am I allowing everyone to read for freesies with this read along? Am I really, going to have every chapter emailed?
Yes, every chapter, full book, no hidden gotcha for joining the read along. Why?
Because I'm of the opinion that a pirate will plunder regardless, and a reader will share their thanks with an author regardless. If you read this read along and find you've enjoyed the story and want to say thank you, please do become a verified reader with Amazon, and pick up a copy or grab a signed paperback to support the continuation of the series.
Similar to tv series, without enough engagement/audience/support, then there is no season two. If you are able there are many ways to support an indie author including simply joining the read along, sharing your star rating and thoughts with a review on Amazon. If you're able, then becoming a verified reader by grabbing the ebook! Share with readers/friends that you think would enjoy reading the book with you! Facebook Groups, Instagram, socials.
Help me reach new readers, and spread the word.
