Hi , welcome back to my author newsletter with alien peens, monsters, magic, and the readers who love them!
Author Platform HR: Hello, Sky, it is time for your yearly review.
Sky: How much do I owe?
HR: Haha, I don't always bring up the budget, but if that's what you want to talk about...
(Hands over a certificate and an IOU note)
Sky: Uh, just put it on my tab. We can get back to the yearly 2025 review.
HR: Let's discuss, your distribution channels first then! You tried out KOBO Plus this year for your released title Her Alien Starbreaker, and short story TKManAteHer: A erot1c robot romance. You totaled for the whole of 2025 a whooping 18 dollars across your titles in Kobo, 5 dollars from the subscription pages read, and 13 from ebook grabs.
Sky: Sooo, what you're telling me is that I suck at marketing, and don't put all my eggs in the Kobo basket. Understood.
HR: We both knew that already. You rely far too heavily on hopes, dreams, and referrals from readers.
Sky: It does make me feel fuzzy inside to think about. I came with my own numbers too. Since I don't really spend any money on advertising, I've still had my best WINTER months yet! Usually, my slowest read-through rates are October-December.
HR: It was a good thing too to help balance out the fact that you only launched two books instead of four and still ended up making the same amount that you made in 2023! Great job! That shows that you've been steadily reaching more readers, despite your lack of marketing and your lack of completing your goal of 4 books released in 2025!
Sky: Hey... Is that a backhanded compliment?
HR: We are our best worst critic. Anyways, Good NEWS! Your best book of 2025 is Her Alien Delegate: A Reverse Harem Alien Romance! It's really the only reason why you are still floating in 2025 and avoiding paying your author platform maintenance costs on credit and writing another IOU to the me, your humble HR and Finance department. It has joined the list of books that have dug its way out of its launch costs to help pay down your author platform!
I'm happy to report that you now have 4 books that aren't carrying around baggage, leaving them available to help pull out the rest of your drowning books! Her Alien Savior, Her Alien Prince, Her Alien Warrior, and NOW Her Alien Delegate are something to be proud of from 2025!
Sky: YAY! (Happy Dance)
HR: ahem, okay, We should talk about your goals! You had a goal to have Her Alien Insurgent reach 50 ratings on Amazon, and you made it to 41 ratings, 9 ratings from your goal for 2025, but it is still your highest rated book with a 4.72 average star rating. I'm sure you can scrounge up 9 readers in 2026 to check out a hot alien with a moldable fancy peen that forms to fit their mate. I'll just leave this link here: https://books.steviemarie.com/heralieninsurgent
Sky: Oh, and one of my goals for 2026 is to have one of my books reach 200 ratings, and Jewel of the Alien Bandit is sooo close and so is Her Alien Prince! Which one will get there first? They are both standalone with parallel plot lines in the same universe!
HR: That's what makes all your alien romances so fun, is that every book is standalone, but is interconnected to the same universe and layers the more you read. Every book becomes more and more enjoyable as you uncover the universe one spicy mate bond at a time. Just in case anyone wants to check out all the books, here's a link to all the books on the fancy new website that was updated in 2025! https://steviemarie.com/sky-robert-books
Sky: I'm excited for 2026! I'm working a few projects, and my goal is to launch at least 4 books this year. Not including a short story for a charity anthology with Hot and Steamy PNW 2026! I'll be attending and hosting another game night table in June! Probably bring Raise Your Goblets again where you try to poison each other's cups and see who live through the toast.
This is me from 2025's Hot and Steamy PNW!
HR: Loving the alien boyfriend!
Sky: He was a great date, but he kept on getting handsy with everyone and blaming it on how big he is. He was a great listener and loved to pose for pictures too.
HR: Here are some fun facts about 2025! You launched 2 books! One of which was part of an anthology that launched in Dec 2024. Your best launched book was Her Alien Delegate with 123 e-books sold and 121,631 pages read in KU, and 34 direct grabs from the author store before launch. It launched late August on the 26th, so that's only the results of 4 months out of 2025!
Can you believe that during launch you were freaking out because you only had 34 readers pre-order the book, and look at the book now! It's soaring! Goes to show that you can't always tie your worth to prelaunches.
Her Alien Delegate was nominated for best sci-fi romance of N.N. Light's 2025 Book Awards, becoming a finalist, but ended up as second place instead of winning, but still awesome! You can check out the finalists on N.N. Light's Substack: Announcing the 2025 N. N. Light Book Awards Finalists, these are the best books of the year in many categories and genres, as chosen by our reviewers
On your self-publishing indie author journey, at the end of 2025 you are considered a PRAWN in the 20books to 50k Facebook group, which means my alien romances make between 100 to 500 in a month, Sky Robert is on the lower end of that spectrum. How fun would 2026 be if we could finally break into Lobster status, the next stage. Currently at 8 out of 20 alien romance books written and published on that journey.
You've increased your followers on Amazon from 482 to 590 in 2025!
You've read 16 books in 2025, which was below your reading goals, but 2025 really kicked your butt and you still kept at it.
You wrote a total of 159K words in 2025, 79k was in one month. There were several months where you didn't write at all in 2025. It was a tough mental year for you, but we're in 2026 now! And considering that in 2024 you wrote 134K, that's actually MORE words than the previous year! Keep in mind that is only tracking the words you wrote using one device! Unfortunately, Atticus doesn't have the stats features yet on their device for me to know how many words were written directly there, versus on the Freewrite tippity typer you use a majority of the time. Pretty soon, you'll have yet ANOTHER writing device to play with at the end of January, what was it called?
Sky: It's a BYOK, I'm excited about it because I'm committed to writing more in 2026, and getting back into the swing of things. One of my goals for 2026 is to take two of my already partially completed stories and finishing them up for publishing during the year.
Her Alien Captor - 9k in progress, Riven's Flame (Dragon Romance) - 31k in progress, Allegiance with the Beast - 13k in progress, Goblin's Treasure - 21k in progress. At least 2 of the in progress books, I want to finish and launch this year, on top of the book I'm working on to be ready for Hot and Steamy 26 in June, which is a short story for an anthology called The Alien's Chosen - 7k in progress, and a full-length book that I want to have ready and printed for launch at the event that follows that one called, Her Alien's Reward - 11k in progress. Who knows, maybe I'll kick ass in 2026 and finish them all.
As you can see, from my many in progress books, and this isn't even half of them. My brain has a bunch of ideas, and I write them down, and then rotate through them until one of them is finished. With ADHD, it's the only way I've ever been able to finish anything, my focus drifts, and then I've trained myself to simply pretend that one of my already in progress projects is a NEW project and get a bunch done on it, then I jump to another one and pretend that one is new and go from there until something is completed. I do have to remind myself not to actually start a new project. It is a struggle sometimes to keep myself accountable to choosing a new project from the list of already started projects instead of coming up with something blank screen new. lol. I do my best. Ever since I recognized my brain patterns as ADHD, I've been able to work with my habits to finally stop beating myself up and utilize strategies to still get stuff done.
I'm also looking forward to using my new writing device that was just recently shipped this month, the BYOK (Bring your own keyboard). I joined the Kickstarter for them a long time ago, and it's finally developed, and shipping! One thing I've always been irritated about is that Freewrite devices, what I've been using regularly, are sooo expensive, and I learned the hard way that they have proprietary keyboard features. Meaning, when one of the keys fails on the attached keyboard then it costs nearly like buying a new device to get it fixed, and when you type a lot, keyboard malfunctions are bound to happen just from normal wear and tear. The bring your own keyboard concept made me excited because it means that my device should last a long time, and if the keyboard breaks, I just sync up a different one to the same device. We'll see how it works. (No, I'm not sponsored, and I'm not linking to it in this email. Check them out with a little search if you're interested in the device.)
Okay, back to writing and back to the books.
I look forward to an exciting 2026 with all of you!

Already read Her Alien Delegate? Have you checked out my other books?
Jewel of the Alien Bandit is about an outlaw who is earning his freedom and finally has the chance with the biggest score of a lifetime, only to find out the jewel he's there to steal isn't an object but a princess who is both ready to mate, and ready to protect her planet from an incoming invasion!
Her Alien Prince has a dangerous commander of a fleet of invading warriors desperate to save their planet by taking over another, only the prince has different plans to save his hive by mating a queen to join their species together, only the one he falls for isn't the future leader of Estreldez, but the future queen of his heart. Choosing between duty and love, but fighting for both, the krelins are a hive-mind species with wings, horns, and a telepathic mate bond!
Her Alien Insurgent is a standalone like the rest, but it is more enjoyable after having read at least one of the books before it like Jewel of the Alien Bandit and Her Alien Prince, which happen in parallel timelines to each other. It's about a spy warrior protecting his planet by keeping the krelins in check and preventing an invasion from those who stray from the treaty between their planets. He meets a lost human on the hunt for an outlaw only to discover they're after the same thing, and as unworthy as he feels for love, it blossoms in the heat of espionage.
If you have a thing for vampires like I do, then you'll love the necia warriors! SPACE VAMPIRES!
Check out Her Alien Savior and Her Alien Warrior, or read that free book you got for joining this newsletter Her Alien Exchange. All about hunky dangerous vampire warriors from space that have a kink for showing off their mates to their clan and battling for honor! They are the perfect grumpy cinnamon rolls because they strive for their mate's happiness but are the fiercest protectors and very possessive but in a way that proves they deserve and are honorable mates worthy of their bonds.
Have time for a shorter read? Check out TKManAteHer: a robot romance where a pleasure bot goes back in time to save the world by using his thruster on Amanda Fullerhound.

All of my books are standalone alien romances, each a separate complete romance, read in any order, and with their interconnected plots, each book layers and you find out more about the world the more you read. Have questions from one book? Read another one, and you're sure to find more answers, and perhaps more questions as the universe unravels. That's what I love about sci-fi adventures set in the same universe, there's so much room to play!
Happy Reading and Thank you for being part of my author journey,
