Hey ,
Welcome to the smuttier side of romance with alien bits that vibrate and the mates that love them.
I'm going to be honest, Bella Blair is one of the reasons why I became an alien romance author myself, so it's an absolute honor to gush about her!
I read lots of alien romances, and after reading this book exactly: The High Commander's Mate, I made the decision to write my own alien romances. Yes, yes, if you've been on my list for a while, you know I fangirl over quite a few authors, including Margo Bond Collins, and Ava Ross. I like how many layers to Bella Blair's characters there are. Vivian has a large back story, and it plays a part in her trauma, and the awesome reveals throughout the plot.
Vivian is a strong woman, born in a time of alien invasion and raised to fight and lead in the human resistance to the Abbaddoth as they steal human children and brainwash them to serve the horde... and decades of struggle leave Earth ravaged, and the humans close to complete ruin. Their only hope... a Hail Mary mission to take a stolen Abbaddoth ship and find any other life out in the universe that might help fight off the invasion.
Humans were losing... and in a stroke of luck the ship they come across is part of the Intergalactic Alliance that she had no idea existed, but if they don't blow her stolen ship up first, they are Earth's best... perhaps only chance to save the remaining human resistance of the Abbaddoth invasion.
It just so happens the High Commander is not only hot, but also despises the Abbaddoth. Vivian is the highest-ranking officer of the ship, and thus the leader of the humans... she is without any leverage and could have easily been ignored, leaving Earth to rot, but lucky for both of them, Draxor has been looking for any excuse to take the Abbaddoth down a notch, and if what they have been doing to humans is true then they are in violation of the intergalactic law.
Only problem is even though there is no denying both of them are horny for each other... trust isn't built in a day, and Vivian is holding back trauma from her reports on how she came to be in possession of the Abbaddoth vessel that gives rise to the possibility she's merely a spy luring his ships into an ambush.
Their romance is sweet, fated mates, full of betrayals, found family, and even healing for both of them. If you haven't given it a read yet, then check it out! It's a great start to the Intergalactic Alliance Series. Content warning of abuse/trauma that the character has suffered at the hands of the Abbaddoths when she was abducted, and somehow found a way to escape. I can't tell you how, because that spoils some of the reveals in the story!

Already read it?
Don't you worry, she already has the next book out:
No matter where she runs to, I will always find her. Always!
Violet: Just my luck not only to be captured and held prisoner by my archenemies, the Zylonians. No, my captor is also the most insufferable male I have ever met. That he is gorgeous is utterly beside the point.
Eryx: I don’t believe in fated mates or any of those legends, not until the most exasperating female becomes my prisoner—and escapes me. But if she thinks I will let her go this easily, she is sorely mistaken. Because she is MINE!

As an indie author I'm not allowed to self-promote in a lot of social places, so I rely on people who love my books to spread the word. I'll point out that if you do find my Goodreads on Bella Blair's The High Commander's Mate, I rated the book 4 stars. Not because it wasn't worthy of 5 stars, it was a great plot, but because I felt there was something missing from the romance end of the story that missed a certain feel I like to go for when I read alien romances. And by missing, I mean the characters feel like they both accept each other so FAST, and I don't just mean accept enough to give into to the steamy romance of smashing bodies together, but I mean, she has all of this backstory and trauma, and there was a point in the story where they've already succumbed to the sex of their relationship, and it felt like their "romance" story was really completed already, and the rest of the story was more about resolving the plot and not about the tug and pull of accepting their relationship.
It's a reading preference really. And why I usually end my stories when the characters accept their affections, and I have an interwoven plot that can be continued with a different romance couple. So, the romantic tension and all those feels I like to feel are tied in with the plot.
There is nothing wrong with romance stories that are two lovers against the world working together, but it doesn't give me as much feels as two lovers, who doubt each other and their feelings only to accept them after conquering a problem together. Like forbidden love. Technically, the High Commander isn't supposed to be dating a human, so it's forbidden, but Draxor falls hard and fast for Major Manchester, and he is a charming alien that isn't even worried about it, it's a non-issue.
I used a bit of forbidden love in Mabel and Trent's romance in Her Alien Prince. He needs to mate with a powerful estreld to secure peace between the planets, and Mabel is just an advisor with fertility issues. So, she has no power to help smooth over political relations, and low prospects for having offspring to bridge the gap between species for peace. Super forbidden love when they are both dedicated to the prosperity of their respective planets.
Don't forget to snag Her Alien Prince on the zon the upcoming stand alone in the Trillume Universe with horns, knotting peen, wings, two hearts, size diff, royalty, and political intrigue with your fated mates SUPER spicy romance:
