, Launch results are in!
If you're a data horn dog like I am, then this email is for you!
I find stuff like numbers and effectiveness of promotions to be fascinating, and maybe you do too?
Jewel of the Alien Bandit had 73 pre-orders before launch, which for a newbie launch with no platform is pretty amazing! Far past my expectations. Honestly, I didn't really have much expectations for the pre-ordering on a first debut launch.
But in 3 months, I went from ZERO newsletter subscribers and ZERO platform, to 1,900 people who love them some alien romance! We can thank Her Alien Exchange for luring in the monster lovers, and really the welcoming community for embracing me into the fold.
We are now at:
- 23 reviews/ratings on Goodreads
- 16 review/ratings on Amazon
- 13 review/ratings on Bookbub
- Average score of 4.09 to 4.3 with over 85% 4-5 star reviews.
Darn Amazon is probably holding a few of your reviews/ratings hostage in their review processing trap. If you've submitted your review, and it is not processed yet, please do take a moment to click on the "review" button on Amazon and re-submit your review that is probably saved in their system. Sometimes that pushes the review through its holding zone.
I've had to do this with a few of my reviews on Amazon and have found a few times I've resubmitted my review and it was posted immediately. Honestly, it's just an odd processing system. There was one time that it took me a WEEK for my review of a book to process. Absolutely ridiculous.

Here are the most recent reviews posted, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the wonderful comments!
You have made me so happy! 🥰
My biggest regret in the marketing department of this launch was purchasing a feature promotion with BooksButterfly, it was possibly the worst money trap I've done. It's possible they added a few sales here and there during the week they were supposed to be promoting, but they did not meet their guarantee, and based on their wording of the guarantee, they claim responsibility for ALL sales during the promotion time, regardless of proof that separate promotions were responsible for them. Sooooo, if you plan on doing promotions for books in the future... I do not recommend them.
In other news:
I'm hard at work on Her Alien Prince, book two, as well as Her Alien Savior, Book three. They are both around 30k words right now. I know what you're probably thinking... if you had simply focused on one or the other, then you'd have a finished book right now, and then you'd be reading book two's ARC!
Yes, yes, that's very true, but my author brain doesn't work like that. I am ALWAYS working on a couple projects at once. I do a few thousand words there, and a few thousand words over here. Sometimes I want to play with the more sexually free necia mates, and sometimes I want to play with the more duty bound estrelds who force themselves to sacrifice for the group before they do something for just themselves.
Here's a little snippet from Her Alien Prince:
"That glow thing you did with your loh, can you do it again?"
I cringed. That was not something I could do on command. His lips were hovering so close to my face, and his scent was in the air, a musk like that from the forest after a rain, fresh and alluring. My mouth opened as if in invitation, and I ruined it by saying, "No, I've never been able to do that before. I'm not even sure if I could do it again without being provoked."
"Is it a defensive mechanism of estrelds?" He spoke softly, and his hand reached up to trace the edge of my chin, almost as if he were trying to see if he could force it out of me in this moment. Just a little more teasing, and just a little more fear, but I wasn't afraid of him.
My heart rate picked up, and my breathing quickened. Eyes widening at the realization that I wanted him in a way I never wanted anyone before, I guess I always knew in theory how I was supposed to have the family I always wanted to make. But this need growing between my legs... I'd never felt that, and certainly hadn't thought I would feel it with a krelin.
I licked my lips. Shaking my head, speechless.
So, I just finished watching the latest season of that Netflix show, Bridgerton, and the characters in that show who constantly struggle between duty and love are exactly what I feel with Luan and Vareo, and Trent and Mabel. While the necia fated mates are more a struggle with acceptance that their feelings are more than sexual, but love for a fated mate they didn't think was possible.
