I had to put together sell sheets for applying to be an author exhibitor at the Portland Book Festival, so let's all chant like we are praying for an alien abduction for the event coordinator to choose little ol' me to join the festival! I think it would be fun to see people outside of my hobbit hole. I would bring chocolates, and stickers, and of course books and my sparkling personality.
Do any of you have any plans for attending the festival?
I put a little sheet of review highlights for Her Alien Prince together while I was getting all sell-sheet crazy. Check it out in all of its glory! Yes, it's probably not as pretty as if someone with actual design talent put the review image together, but I still like it!
Reviews and seeing that people are enjoying my stories is actually very motivating to write the next one, and work on editing to bring the next book to life sooner. I know, I know, I shouldn't rely on reviews to help motivate me, but worry not, one bad egg doesn't ruin the many good eggs available to me. All I need is a tribe of readers who want to hear from me, and want to read my stories, and as long as I have that tribe, then it doesn't matter when someone doesn't like it, because there are plenty of accountability readers who are excited for when the next book comes out.
Having people message me and say things like.... "soooo, you're writing the next one, right?" and "I'm so happy you're writing another necia warrior book! I can't wait for when you get around to telling Evie's story!" It touches my heart, and it's for you that I share these stories! Thank you!

I posted the first 15 chapters with Beta readers so that I can get an idea of any changes I need to make to have the best possible reading experience with this story.
Overall, I'm pleased to see that the issues are minor, and will require little reworking to fix.
The main character Riley, though everyone agrees they love her and how she's a strong individual and her actions are believable, and they root for her, there is a consensus that they'd like to know more about her past/personal information sooner rather than waiting for the softy moment of opening up and being vulnerable with her mate later. I'll still keep the softy moment, but I will work in more of her backstory into first half of the book more so people can feel for her more. This will hopefully push the enjoyment from a 4 star to a 5 ^_^
Other reworkings will be adding more subtle details that will help set the stage a bit more for the plot and make it easier to digest the twists and depth of subterfuge.
Sometimes I have this problem when writing that everyone, even the side characters have all these motives, and yes it makes them dynamic, but it also can create confusion if I put too much happening at once. Believable, and yet I don't want readers to have to re-read a heady chapter to understand what's happening. Sooooo, I have a bit of editing to do to smooth out the plot and make it more digestible. Same plot, but for beginning drafts it's easy to miss that my brain interprets what's supposed to happen versus the set up for the reader that knows nothing yet. haha.
Writing is a process, and I'm thankful to the beta readers that are commenting on the story and giving me the insights necessary to have a better perspective on how to improve the story before it is launched. And it tickles me green with alien love that despite the things I want to fix and make better the story is still getting 4-5 stars for enjoyment and anticipation to continue reading.

Sometimes people frustrate us in such a way that we love to hate it. I hope that's what's happening, haha.
