Psychoanalysis has been one of the most influential schools of thought in the interpretation of mental illness, personality, relationships and families and indeed of culture, civilisation and history. Further, Freud's original ideas and models have been developed over subsequent years to better capture the full range of human experience and emotions.
This short introduction assumes no prior knowledge of psychoanalysis but provides a basic review of key concepts in the perspective as it applies to psychotherapy.
