Hello Romance Readers,
January 2022 is nearly over and I'm ready for some warmer weather.
It's been cold and damp here in San Antonio. I grew up in Perth with low humidity and lived most of my time in the US in Colorado also low humidity. Here in SA, 40 degrees with humidity feels colder than I thought it would. I know it has been bitterly cold across the nation so I hope you are keeping warm. Meanwhile my mom shared back home in Perth after a sweltering December they are having cooler weather this week before the forecast for hotter days. Try to keep cool if you are in the southern hemisphere.
Talking about weather, I decided to do some research for a short story that will be featuring in the Wedding Wager that comes out later this year. The Wedding Wager will be a shared world collection. Each author is trying to set their stories over the course of a year. Mine is to be set in October. I found this gem in the The Gentleman's Magazine (London, England), Volume 108
Picturing the scene in the Netflix version of Bridgerton where Daphne ventures out into the garden during a ball, I can't help but imagine I'd be rather cold when it was 45 degrees at night wearing a lightweight silk regency gown.

FORBIDDEN LOVE
Cecily Nottingham has made a huge mistake.
The marriage bed was still warm when the earl she thought she loved crawled out of it and announced that he loved someone else.
Loves. Someone else.
Cecily was nothing more than a means to an end, that end being her dowry.
With nothing to lose, in an attempt to goad the earl into divorcing her, Cecily sets out to seduce her husband’s cousin, Mr. Nottingham.
Little does she realize that he is everything her husband is not: honorable, loyal, trustworthy…
Handsome as sin.
Stephen Nottingham returned to England for one reason -- to save his cousin’s estate from financial ruin.
Instead, he finds himself tempted by his cousins beautiful and scorned countess.
He isn’t sure what to do first, strangle his cousin, or kiss the cad’s wife.
As the tangle unravels, his honor is put to the test, right along with his self-control.
Amid snakes, duels, and a good catfight, Cecily realizes the game she’s playing has high stakes indeed.
There are only a few ways for a marriage to end in Regency England, and none of them come without a high price. Is she willing to pay it? Is Stephen?
A ‘Happily Ever After’ hangs in the balance, because, yes, love can conquer all, but sometimes it needs a little bit of help.

And the estate is just getting its finances back in order. But he knows a moral obligation when he sees one. He may not be her idea of a hero, but people count on him to fix things. He’s good at it. Welcome to book 1 in the MacNaughton Castle Romance by Aubrey Wynne. Read for Free in Kindle Unlimited!
Fenella Franklin is too tall, too intelligent, and has no title. Her talents lie in numbers and a keen business mind, not in the art of flirtation. When she becomes the object of a cruel wager during her come-out in London, she vows to put off the penniless noblemen vying for her sizeable dowry. But her season is cut short after her mother discovers the subterfuge, and Fenella retreats to Scotland.
Lachlan MacNaughton has neither the temperament nor the patience to be the next MacNaughton chief, preferring to knock heads together rather than placate bickering clansmen. He readily accepts a reprieve to help with the family’s textile mill in Glasgow. A sizzling chance encounter in the rain introduces him to the new female bookkeeper. His grandfather may want him back in the Highlands, but his heart has been lost in the Lowlands.
The attraction between Fenella and Lachlan sparks a passion not even two rebellious souls can deny.
But an innocent deception tests their newfound love and threatens the freedom they both crave.
