I've committed a cardinal writer sin!

The sin of a writer, and I'm not mad at it.

Hey ,

It is a little-known fact that editing a book before you've finished your first draft is a sin!

Also, before I get into it, a winky welcome to the newbies on the newsletter that recently joined from the First in Series BookSweeps of Sci-fi Fantasy giveaway! Welcome to the smuttier side of romance with the aliens we love!

For first-time writers, I do recommend they take the NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month in November) approach of not looking back and continuing to write until the first draft is finished, because more often than not, this helps make sure you actually finish the book!

Once a few books are finished, sometimes us writers bend the rules that helped us in the past.

I did that with Her Alien Prince, because as I was writing the ending, or the HEAFN (Happily Ever After for Now). I always add for now on this series, because the stand-alone romances end when the characters accept their fated mate, but that doesn't mean the universe plot is over, or even those character's adventures.

Towards the end of Her Alien Prince, I stopped and remembered that I didn't include the breadcrumbs that were in my mind in earlier chapters about this ending. Soooo, I decided to STOP, and go back to the first few chapters and do an editing sweep before I finished the last 5k wrap up. This last 5k ended up being a last 10k, haha. This is a sin for most writers, and I can understand why, because a book is never going to be finished if you keep trying to edit it before you even get the first draft out.

But, I'm so glad I did!

Because I think it really helped me re-establish what I did or didn't write into the book, but was in my mind that didn't make it to the page.

Her Alien Prince ended up being around 20,000 words more than Jewel of the Alien Bandit, so it's a bit longer of a story, and was so difficult for me to finish because there is so much more to tell about Mabel and Trent's romance... Good thing about a series is I can choose to come back to them after I've finished up a few more fated mates.

I just got some feedback from one of my ARC readers Ann-Marie, hope you don't mind me sharing:

"Mabel and Trent have quite the attraction, but feel they can’t possibly be mates due to circumstances that makes it virtually impossible. It plays quite the tug of war on their emotions, confusing them and causing all kinds of doubts. The plot keeps deepening, changing, making a war almost inevitable." - 5-star Review from Anne-Marie

These were a few of her notes that she sent me! And I agree, this is one of my favorite parts in the story! I don't think it's much of a spoiler, more like something to look forward to on how they get there! Thank you so much for sharing this with me Anne-Marie, it made my day!

What I'm Reading Corner:

I just finished reading DaR available in Kindle Unlimited:

Join over 1,000 5-star reviewers! That's right Jennifer is like an Alien Romance Goddess, and has over 1,000 people who have not only read, but rated her book 5-stars! Statistics say 1 in 5 people review things they purchase... (brow wiggle, how many people have read this book and loved it?) LOTS!

I'm no different than the rest of her thousands of fans. I read this baby in a few days, and lost sleep over finishing it! I just love the world that she's created here. Now, if you're looking for a super smutty, spicy read, this is NOT it. They don't do anything naughty until the EPILOGUE! That's right, the WHOLE book is a sweet, sweet sci-fi slow-burn build up of emotions and adventure of getting to know this whole world, and it's all the feels and great plot!

Kira is a strong middle-aged woman (if you can call 45 middle-aged? Really, I just think that's the PRIME of our lives! I was in my twenties and didn't even know what I wanted to do with my life, and it wasn't until I was thirty that I truly felt like I knew myself, knew what I wanted, and got after it.) The story starts off with her preparing for a vacation with her awesome and loving husband Rick. They are such a cute couple, and then tragedy happens when she is abducted mid-flight by horrible four-armed aliens that massacred all the males, and kidnapped human females for the slavers trade.

Now, I'm not normally into the slave trope in alien romances because I feel like most of those tropes are done in a way that is just icky to read, but despite the horror and it is truly grotesque what Kira has to go through, it's written well, and she is found by DaR by the grace of the Lord of Light, their belief system of fate and gods.

I just love the characters, and the story. Again, yes there is spicy in the epilogue, but I'm going to say at no point does this book feel smutty or thigh clenching steamy. This is the kind of alien romance that tugs at your heartstrings and is an excellent story that pulls you in and you just need to read all of the universe!

I look forward to gobbling up the rest of this series! I already read book 7 BEFORE I read book 1, so I have spoilers in my mind, but still ABSOLUTELY loved this book!

Unlike my lovely new obsession Jennifer, I tend to have a bit of spicy a lot SOONER in a book, because well, that's what I like, and I like to write what I like to read, so... if you want to dive into the Trillume Universe for your own dose of sweet, sweet alien romance with Jewel of the Alien Bandit on Kindle Unlimited if you like alien outlaws, princesses of a struggling planet, and a bit of political intrigue with your alien peen.

SBee Reviews 5-star review said, " This new-to-me author offered an enticing first look into her multi-layered sci-fi series showcasing unique aliens with real heart and grit paired with ages-old societal and mating challenges. The worldbuilding groundwork has been artfully laid, along with the introductions of the (hopefully anticipated) characters for the next installments to come."

There is more to come! Her Alien Prince with all the ARC readers as we speak and has already had five people give it a 5-star and one a 4-star! It makes me very happy that everyone has been enjoying the book!

You can preload your e-readers in preparation for the next book:

Her Alien Prince has a hero that struggles to redeem himself in a culture that has made selfish and damaging decisions for the betterment of the hive. His mother, the queen, has led their warrior horde into battles against other civilizations at the cost of many lives in the name of protecting the hive, and advancing the hive. Planets have fallen under her rule, entire species have been nearly eradicated, and she plans on doing it once more for the sake of a precious stone that is used to burn cleaner and more efficiently for space travel.

Trent pushes back, seeking to overthrow the queen and replace her with a new one, but can he do it before more lives are lost? And when he meets his Kansa fated mate... will he abandon everything he worked for, or perhaps she's the one that will save them all?

The Prince of the Krelis Horde, and a dedicated mating research advisor of Estreldez, who happens to have no qualms about a man with horns, wings, knotting peen, and two hearts that only beat for her.

Side note: Mable and Trent get a little fingering action in chapter 4... (winky face)

What happens when an alien breeder gets greedy? Available in Kindle Unlimited:

I’m broken after I’m thrown in a cage to pleasure brutal alien fighters. It’s too much to expect one of these monsters to watch over me.

Then the Beast claims me.

When he touches me, I yearn for more.

When he kisses me, I weep with gratitude.

When he undresses me, I ache to scream his name.

And when he makes me fly, I soar higher than ever before.

But there’s a problem. I already made a deal with the warden to get impregnated with the Beast’s baby so I can go home. How can I fall in love when I’m betraying his deepest wishes?
