Hey ,
Welcome again to the smuttier side of romance with monster love, and alien fated mates.
You read the subject line correctly. I am reminded frequently through my life both verbally and in action that I am not in need of satisfaction.
I am even tempered, I am practical, and when there are more pressing needs at play... I am content to push aside my own satisfaction for those around me. This is the life of a mom, sure, but mom or not, I think many can give of themselves until there is no more to give without the effort behind it being compromised.
I stress about many things, and those anxieties, stressors, and the constant nagging of my brain can get in the way of seeking out satisfaction, or in fact craving it at all.
I guess, I'm similar to Luan, the MC in Jewel of the Alien Bandit, in that way. There are duties that get in the way of ever thinking about more primal things, more things of personal satisfaction.
And that is WHY alien romances are liberating, both to write and to read. It is a story of escapism, but also when satisfaction wins out, because with fated mates... is there really a choice? Both mates are compelled to respond to one another by an unseen force of attraction.
Call it fate. Call it alien pheromones. Call it biological magnetism! Whatever, you call it, there is something wonderful about meeting someone that can't get enough of you.
Jewel of the Alien Bandit has political intrigue between planets, a birthing crisis, a food shortage, and an interstellar conspiracy over a rock that no one ever thought was valuable. All of those things are soooo consuming. Where is there time for romance amongst outlaws and a brewing war?
This particular romance is the angst between duty and heart. And the acceptance that sometimes you have to fight for your own satisfaction amongst your commitments, and there is no right time for love. Even on the brink of galactic war, you must choose to fight together.
Luan and Vareo's story is a jump in before you think kind of romance, so it doesn't have the sweet vibes of a slow-burn romance. It's instalove, and like the budding of a fresh, young relationship that commits before they actually truly know each other beyond the essence of they feel good, there's hot and steamy chemistry, and that they have their whole lives to get to know each other.
It's a stand-alone romance, but that doesn't mean Luan and Vareo's story is over. I've made their romance this way, because as fulfilling as it is to read their journey towards accepting their feelings towards each other is... there are consequences to jumping heart first, and they will have to grow together through challenges in their reprise journey later down the Treasures of Trillume Series.
Here's a recent review from Amazon that has a lovely quote from Vareo: "She was brighter than any sun, but I was not blinded. I never wanted to look away." - Jewel of the Alien Bandit

On the author update front:
I've finished writing Her Alien Prince, WHEW! It's currently in editing phases, and I'm working on getting it all set up for First readers/Typo Killers to get their eyeballs on it after. My new editor combed through the first 30k already, but I'd say it was mostly proofreading edits, and not the kind of deep edits that I was expecting.
I say new editor, because as some of you may know my other work isn't quite as steamy, and my editor that I'm used to working with doesn't read this kind of stuff, so I had to find another. Finding the right editor is tough, because many editors like to segregate the edits between proofing/line edits/developmental edits/etc. Not to toot my own horn or anything, but I write ALOT. So much so that I have TONS of other books that I have not published all in first draft modes in various stages of completion, there's a spreadsheet. Because of how much I've written, and how many books I've completed (whether they are published or not) and how many books I read regularly. My first drafts are pretty close to publication ready before they get in the hands of an editor/typo killer, and I've found that I get better feedback from my beta readers on how to improve my books than I do the editors I try to pay for. Because they are the people I'm writing for, and they make comments about those lines that they are like, whaaa? Or that they are like but what happened to blah blah? Or they wished they had more of blah. All of that helps me to add or subtract and perfect the book before it reaches publication.
