The whole internet is going crazy about AI! And a few emails back I had ChatAI generate a really shitty alien romance, but it didn't do that bad of a job a generating character concept art when I found this program ArtSmartAI.
This is what it came up with when I described Luan from Jewel of the Alien Bandit:
It's pretty close, but it didn't really add the jewels/loh I was looking for in the art. So, it's close, but not exactly what I wanted. I do really love it though!
And this was its rendering for Vareo:
I'd say this looks closer to Loric, than Vareo, and I'm not really sure where the feathery-like armor came in, but it's pretty neat nonetheless.
Despite how fun and awesome AI generated art is, I'd say artists are still going to keep their jobs, because as pretty as it is, it isn't what I wanted in character concept art. Unless I was using the generated art as inspiration for the story characters, AI art does not really take into consideration my input as much as I'd like. Humans just have a higher capacity for creative understanding and being able to bring what we see in our head to life.
Also, if anyone wanted to make NSFW alien romance art, well, the AI is probably blocked from producing smutty content for now. Haha.
Either way, the AI does a helluva better job at art than I could, but even with using my own drawing for reference, it didn't give me what I wanted. I was really hoping that I could do a pencil drawing of Luan and Vareo, and have the AI just make it BETTER, but that's not really part of its functionality at the moment.
The alien romance fan art is safe from AI, for now, though it's pretty scary how it generates art/images so nicely! But, again, there is something about human art that just can't be replicated.
