When Perseus, a son of Zeus and the princess of Argos, severs Medusa's head to save his mother. Blood from her neck birthed two children, Pegasus and Chrysaor (a winged horse, and a warrior with a golden sword). Blood from her head scattered across the Libya birthing land of many serpents born from the drops of her blood.
The remaining blood taken from the left side of her head was used to take people's lives, and the blood from the right side to pull them from death was given to the God of Medicine.
Only two drops, one from each side, were given to Athena's adopted son, a serpent born from the seed of the God of Fire and Metalworking, who in human form became the king of Athens. Knowing one drop was the deadliest poison and the other a cure-all, he did not trust Athena on which one was which and never used the blood.
The God of Medicine was cast to the stars by Zeus for disrupting the balance of life and death with Medusa's blood, of whom even his own symbol was carved after, a rod wrapped by a serpent.
With no blood left in her head, it was assumed Medusa was mortal, and never to live again.
And yet, power remained in her gaze to terrify and give judgement to those who look into her eyes within Athena's shield. It is said that a lock of Medusa's hair, which would most certainly be a serpent, was kept in a jar and given to Hercules, which was given to Sterope to protect her hometown, Tegea. The lock of "hair" could not turn people to stone but was said to strike terror into any unfortunate to gaze on it.
So, I pose a question to you: What if the only remaining drops of Medusa's blood were returned to her head? Would she still be as mortal as they say?
What if Athena wasn't Medusa's enemy, and they were best friends that had a secret to keep?
What if nothing is as it seems, and the myths are only half of the story?
