Alien Lovers UNITE, ,
Welcome to the smuttier side of romance books with alien peens and the mates that love them.
Okay, so first off HAPPY FOOKING MOTHER'S DAY WEEKEND!
This is the human in training that I brewed within my core and sprung forth into existence, but if you ask my hubby he would say he was the one that gave life to the beast that is our child.
And as per the email subject line, Yuuush, you probably saw that the zon is increasing their rates of Kindle Unlimited. And for a lot of authors this could see a dip in their livelihoods.
Why?
Well, because most people want to fight against the big corps and think canceling their memberships will send a message to the great beyond and change their evil corporate greedy ways to put more money in the pockets of the little guy.
I'm here to hopefully clear up some misconceptions about this price increase that are no doubt flapping around like my ass in the wind when I try to run. Yes, yes, I know you see the picture and are like... what fat is there to flap, and trust me there are bigger people who are better in shape than I am. I sit on my ass in a dark closet, surrounded by sound foam, while I sequester to write books. Okay, I digress.
The increases of the Kindle Unlimited coming next month. You can lock in your current rate by grabbing the 6-month bulk option, but the main reason why people are fleeing from the platform are because they believe they are shouting for the little guys, like me, about how they believe that extra couple bucks will not be going to the authors that create the content.
And I assure you, it does, just not in the way people think.
The terms of the KU agreement with authors has to do with how much money each month KU memberships bring in. This massive amount of money is placed into this POOL, and from there the amount paid per page read is calculated. So, really the only person stealing money from the little guy in this scenario with the price increase are the people trying to cheat the page read system, by "padding" their "content" or otherwise.
Here is the breakdown of KU payouts for authors:
All money from subscribers goes into a Global Fund, divided by country, and author's earnings are then based on pages read of the shared amount of pages read. (even with a stipulation that a MAX 3,000 KENP per title per customer, that I think was put in there for those people trying to stuff non-content for more pages read, but what do I know? Who has a 3,000 page title, I mean sure there are book collections/ boxsets, but I've never seen a bookset be that many pages!)
Take my books for instance. Since I don't have any titles over 3,000 pages I think I'm safe there. haha. But all the extra $2 does is put more money into the global fund and possibly the reason for this increase is to see the amount per page read to increase and thus put more into the creator's pockets. The only way this increase would not go to the authors is if Amazon changed their terms somewhere that would take more of the global fund for themselves, but no other terms were changed, so an increased price just increases the global fund and thus how much authors get per page read.
Here's what they mean by dividing up by country, it means if someone from a different country reads my books, there is a different rate of per page read that I get from them based on their global fund.
This was my first payout from KU for February with Jewel of the Alien Bandit.
12588 KENP for February ^_^ which I'm very proud of for a first month with no prior audience.
And just yesterday alone I had 1,015 KENP on Jewel of the Alien Bandit and 1,461 KENP with Her Alien Prince!
Today... a steady stream of the usual read pages until after the announcement of the KU increase... crickets...
Trust me when I say, canceling KU doesn't hurt the zon, or big corps. Just the small fry indies that rely on them, but I'm not going to tell you to resubscribe or anything. If you kept your subscription then keep reading those pages, and if you didn't just remember that in actuality an author will make more money when you purchase the book than with your pages read, as long as they are pricing their book $2.99 or above. Anything priced under $2.99 only gives the author 35%, and so they actually make more money with your pages read than buying the book.
Want to support indie authors? Read their books. That is all. ^_^
Here's today's Kindle Unlimited Indie Highlight!
Alyssa
I should have been worried about not flubbing up my first day as an intern in NASA’s undergraduate program for planetary research. Instead, I was terrified of which alien prisoner I was bought to pleasure first. Anyone but the silver male they called the Berserker. He terrified me the most.
Drekkor
Stolen from the Trisess Forest on my home world by little gray freaks, I was sold, then forced to fight in an arena for the pleasure of others. Losing was a death sentence. As a seasoned warrior of Valose, I had the fighting skills to keep myself alive no matter what monster they pitted against me. To the chagrin of my jailers, none stood a chance.
Then she was tossed into my cage, a curvy distraction they thought would soften me. Instead, she triggered a biological response that should not be possible. That a female of another species could breathe life into my ancillary heart seemed impossible, but the adrenalyne that pumped through my veins might be the fuel I needed to rescue us both.
And of course Jewel of the Alien Bandit!
over 60+ reviews on the zon with a 4.5 star average!
You want to send a message you can cancel for day, send your message, and resubscribe. Until there is a better way of reaching readers, indies are at the mercy of the zon, since most readers are cautious of buying books from author's direct stores.
Which, MANY authors do have. Like an Etsy store front with merch/signed paperbacks and such. Or like myself that use Payhip to provide a place where you can purchase my books directly, digitally or otherwise, before they are officially released in Kindle Unlimited.
You can grab my next book Her Alien Savior from my author direct store before it's released on Kindle Unlimited on August 1st 2023 for $1.99, have it directly emailed to you through BookFunnel once it's finished with its edits, or grab it directly from Amazon pre-order for 2.99. Either way works for me, and it's still more money than if you had read through KU.
On average I earn about 1.00 per fully read book with KENP.
Purchasing the book for 2.99, I get around 2.00 royalty
Pre-order Her Alien Savior direct on Author Store: https://payhip.com/b/UO3uB
Grab Her Alien Savior pre-order on the zon: https://books.steviemarie.com/heraliensavior
Or go forth and read some indie books in Ku if you're still subscribed.
If you want to boycott the zon, purchase from indies direct ^_^
Happy Reading!
Here are some of the newest reviews for Her Alien Prince!
I even got my very first poor review of a 2 star and even that review said I had wonderful world building, so I consider it a win, since you can't please everyone! To have fans you will also have haters. Trying to please everyone means you please no one! And I have to read my books so many times, that I have to enjoy them to keep reading them haha.
Sooooo, if you haven't read Her Alien Prince yet, please do add it to your TBR and dive in! It's a standalone, so you don't have to read book one to enjoy it, and if anything many have said they enjoyed reading book two first and then going back to book one!
Here are some tropes:
Knotting
Primal play (cave chase)
Horns and wings
Dark Alien Prince x Strong Alien Scientist FMC
MMC with Non-human Anatomy
Fated Mates
Mind link/mind connection
Conspiracy / Political intrigue
Forbidden romance
Possessive MMC
Some scenes of OW and OM
He calls her "My Queen"
Miscommunication
Size difference
Eeep, and also, PNR Guild reviewed Her Alien Prince giving it a 4-star! Saying:
"This book is chock full of surprises, secrets, betrayals, romance, and sex. I was really surprised by some of the secrets revealed and all the wheeling dealing that went on so I had to keep glued to each page for fear I would miss something.
If you love sci-fi then don’t miss this series and although each book is stand-alone, I highly recommend beginning with book one."
And Squeeeallllll, if any of you know the DaR series of sci-fi romances! Jennifer read my books! I absolutely love her series! I read book 7 first, then went back, read book 1-3, I'm on book 4 now! She reviewed Her Alien Prince giving a 5-star! I'm so honored to have been read and enjoyed by someone with 25 books out, and nearly 2,000 reviews on her DaR book!
On to book 4!
You can check out the series here! Darverius, House of DaR (8 book series) Kindle Edition (amazon.com) She just recently released book 8, and this new release made it to #1 in her category on her launch week, and is STILL sitting in the top 10 today in Alien Invasion Sci-fi books!
OKAY, author basics!
As usual, you can check out my Author store for such things like signed paperbacks, or die-cut sticker NSFW merch. <3 I've got all the stickers, paperbacks and even some winners from the launch party have their goodies sent out! And even some people have already received their book mail!
If you are enticed by the pretty, I'll just slide this link right here for you... nudge nudge. Brow wiggle. ---> https://payhip.com/BrokenBooksPublishing
I wrap it all nicely, well, okay... as best as I can, then shove it in a protective sleeve before it bounds off to its new home to whet your appetite. May your eyeballs enjoy, and your heart be full. Add the die-cut with your order and save on shipping ^_^ Buying direct puts more mullas in the pocket of the creator, instead of the big corps. Thank you for supporting indie!

"I love a good alien romance and this was right up there. I loved how the characters came together and the way the store played out was great! I loved how the ending played out too. Alien romances are my favorite genre or romance as of recently and this is going to be added to my “favorites” list. Good work!" - 5-star review from Veronica
"Love this series. This story has all the feels. All the interactions between the main characters kept me turning the pages. I want more in this world." 5-star review from Gale
