S.M. McCoy's Monthly Romantasy Newsletter with FREEBIES! And Alien Romance with Sky Robert

Romantasy for the win!

imageWelcome to the fantastical side of romance with magic and myth, ,

Hi loves!

As always the monthly newsletter is packed with Freebies! Get to know some new authors or reignite your love for oldies but goodies in the Indie Temptations of August! Scroll past my author updates to check them out.

Many of you may know from my Sky Robert newsletter that I'm moving to California. The house is packed into pods, and I am currently living out of my travel bag for a couple of weeks. I apologize for any delays my moving might have on responsiveness. I haven't been posting on Instagram much. But, know, that I am alive, just tired and busy with the moving of my family. See Author Updates for more below.

If you're new here, then you might be wondering why it says Sky Robert, instead of S.M. McCoy. That's because I write my alien romances under Sky Robert, and my romantasy paranormal books under S.M. McCoy. The separation of names is so that readers can set expectations for what they will get when they read a Sky Robert book, spicy alien romances with world building adventures. Standalone fated mates in an interconnected universe.

While my S.M. McCoy books are usually a slower burn fantasy adventure romance usually trilogies, but I do plan on releasing some standalone stories in the future.

My Medusa retelling is available WIDE now, meaning you can read it on Kobo Plus! Or grab it directly from me to help support the third installment! I'm still saving up money to afford a custom cover for book three!

I've sold most of my belongings at a loss to move and downsize. This is both terrifying and liberating. Decluttering is a big thing, and honestly, I believe this might actually be a forced situation that will improve my productivity.

I've never formally been diagnosed with ADHD, but I feel like I really should because realizing that I had it all my life, now, has really helped me navigate how to function with it and not be paralyzed as much.

I was digging through my old papers and found report cards from junior high and elementary. (My mom kept most of my stuff and when I moved out, I inherited the clutter and never really took the time to go through it before this move.) I laughed when I saw the same comment popping up on ALL of my report cards in some iteration. A pleasure to have in class but could utilize class time better. Even my art class teachers said that I had talent, but couldn't focus during class time. I love art, by the way.

I was either super quiet to stay unnoticed and out of the way, or considered annoying when I actually had something I could talk about. I believe most people think I'm annoying or rude because I've interrupted conversations when I thought I was contributing, or looking somewhere else when I was listening to what people were talking about. Why do you need eye contact to talk to people anyways?

It took me 9 years to finish writing my first book!

And even that book only got finished when I realized little by little that I needed to do something different to stop being overwhelmed and freeze up when trying to do something that I truly wanted to do. That's one of the reasons why accounting was so easy for me to do, because it wasn't anything that cared deeply about, and it basically contains many small tasks that feel like I'm completing things faster and getting that oh so important dopamine. That... and coffee.

But finishing that first book! Holy tortoise balls, that was the greatest feeling, even if it wasn't actually fully edited yet. I finally accomplished something. I finally felt like I wasn't worthless.

Because my ADHD did make me feel worthless, because as everyone became better at things, I knew a bunch of random shit and never stuck it out to finish or accomplish anything.

Writing... it is the first and if I'm honest with myself, the only thing, that I've ever completed. Something I felt proud of. Sure... my writing isn't for everyone, and I do feel a twinge of rejection when I see readers say my writing wasn't what they preferred. BUUUUUUUUTTTTT, it's because of readers like you that love my writing style that I continue to share my books with the world despite all the negativity out there, and the crazy new landscape of sloppy deformed AI book babies.

Some people may choose to utilize AI to assist with their writing not taking as long to accomplish or get whipped into shape, but for me, every book is an accomplishment that I can look back and remind myself that this life means something, that my stories have entertained people, and I shared something that took me time and effort to give. That I lived.

Happy reading, and perhaps you'll find your next favorite read among the featured indie author(s) below!

Hi, I'm Stevie. I'm a mom of two kiddos, and I write fantasy romance, and alien romances. I started with writing a YA vampire romance, and I retired the 3-book series because it wasn't the same kind of style as the rest of my books, and I didn't want those books to be the first impression readers got of my writing. I also wrote a sci-fi fantasy mash up Kingdom of Acatalec, got a traditional contract book deal, but it flopped because I wasn't and still am not that great at marketing things without more control over what I can do with my books. I received my book rights back and will relaunch that book with my indie control after I finish my Medusa Retelling Series.

The Dark Gods Rising is mythology reimagined if you are like me and believe that the "monsters" of myth and legend were hunted by Greek gods because they were different, because they were a threat to their power and rule. Perhaps, the monsters weren't the bad guys after all, and Medusa wasn't the villain myth made her out to be. There is always more than one side to every story.

Dive into a slow-burn romance, fast-paced fantasy adventure with all the political mechanisms of Greek Myth, and the what-ifs from a different point of view.

Read Taking Medusa!
