I frequently cleanse my writing juices with a bit of a side project here and there. Some of you may find it odd that I can be 75% through a project and then be like. Whaaaa, squirrel and want to write something a little different just to allow my mind a bit of a reprieve to truly think about if I'm doing the right thing by the story. I'm at that point with Her Alien Savior. I've got too many ideas swirling around and I need to focus on getting from point b to point c and finishing up the story line for the necia alien warrior fated mates romance between Commander Direl and Riley.
In order to do that I take a few days to focus on writing something different then I go back to the story with a cleansed mind, a calmer mind instead of throwing the whole kitchen sink at the project.
What do I mean by that?
I could be in the mood to write something dark, and dark might not fit with the current feel and theme of the story I'm trying to write. So, I got to get the dark feels out with a start to a different story I'll pick up after.
I'm at 50k into Her Alien Savior, even did a round of editing through all of that so I could refresh my mind on all the continuity, and make sure I properly added things to the stylesheet so I have less plot bunnies and or accidentally name changes haha. I'll probably be able to finish up the whole first draft by the end of the month. Which do you like for my side project more? Yes, they will both have steam. And I'll probably write both, but got to focus on one or the other first. I'll probably finish writing one of these before I release Her Alien Insurgent, book three.
