Today's email is a bit bitter-sweet.
First off, Water Kanin officially published this week! Through the end of today (Friday) you can grab a copy of Glass Kanin for free and Loose Kanin for $0.99. So if you've been waffling on checking out the series, now's your chance!
The deal this week even got Book 1 to (very briefly) break into the top 100 kindle books! :D I was so stoked.
In other news, Daku Con went really well last week! There was only 1000 attendees, so about a third the size of the other con I went to this summer, but I still managed to sell 50 books, which is more than double of what I'd hoped! It's so much fun to meet other queer people at these cons and gush over our favorite books and shows.
And finally... I got a job! Yay, income! But also, I find I'm a bit saddened by the idea of going back to work full time. Pretending to be a "full time author" was one of the best experiences I've ever had. It was so freeing to be in control of my days, choosing what I do with each hour. I'm going to miss sleeping in and being able to take my dog on walks throughout the day while I ponder over plot points and dialogue. Boba is going to miss all the walks, too, I'm sure!
Of course, as a result, this means I'm going to have less time to write. I've been writing about 2500 words every day while writing full time, and I expect that number will probably drop to 1000 words a day when I go back to the office. The small silver lining is that there is barely any commute to get to the new job---seriously, it's 5 minutes from my house.
Well, and money. That's always a pretty good silver lining lol.
Even so, I know I'll be counting the days until I can return to writing as my "job." In the meantime, I will probably be dropping the rate at which I send these emails to maybe once per month.
As always, thanks for reading.
