New Year Who Dis?

Coming into 2026 like a panda falling out of a tree

Books Short Stories Patreon

Welcome to 2026! And what a shite show it's already been.

But you're not here to despair about the state of the world, you're here to escape into fantasy land for a time where we don't have to think about existential threats to our species and/or countries.

Anyway!

Fyre Fly will be releasing next week! If you want to be an ARC reader, this is your last opportunity to sign up.

As I mentioned in my last email, I've now started up a new fulltime job, and my free time (and writing time) is definitely suffering for it. Being back in an office 5 days a week is not fun... especially as it's an open-layout office, so we have no privacy, and no one talks, so it's basically sitting in a silent uncomfortable room for 8 hours a day. Good times! But at least I've got a salary, so I've got that going for me, which is nice.

Because of this, however, for the foreseeable future I'll just be publishing 2 chapters per week on Royal Road, Scribble Hub, and Patreon.

In other news, I got accepted into SPFBOXI! And if that sounds like a bunch of random letters to you, it means Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off 11! Which is much less of a mouthful. Basically, Friendly Fyre is in a competition with 299 other books over the course of 2026 where book reviewers will publicly go through and review the books submitted to them, eventually whittling the submissions away until there is 1 winner. I don't expect Fyre to win (or even make it very far) but I'm extremely excited to see what some pro reviewers have to say! And a little terrified. But mostly excited!

Upcoming Conventions I'll Be At:

Book Drafting Progress:

Last tidbit of news I've got for you: Podium has decided to take Glass Kanin out of the Audible-exclusive category, so the audiobook should now be available on all audiobook platforms! Huzzah!

The Friendly Fyre audiobook is still chugging along and should be out later this year. It's being narrated by the talented Sena Bryer, if I haven't already said.

That's all I've got for you this month. I'll send 1 more email out when Fyre Fly publishes as well - otherwise, I'll see you in February!

Best,

~Kia
