Dukes and horse races...what will I be researching next?

image

Hello Romance Readers,

I hope everyone kept warm during the cold spell last week. They canceled school both Thursday and Friday, so the kids and I played board games and drank hot chocolate.

Highland Wolf by Lynsay Sands hit my kindle on Jan 25th and for the first time, I didn’t stay up all night to read until the end. I enjoyed Claray and the Wolf (no spoilers for those who haven’t read it yet), but it did take me three days to get through it, which was an utter surprise. Is there an author whose books you just can’t put down? Hit reply and let me know.

February Book News

In the Duke of Aces, Isadora finds herself invited to attend a horse race on the outskirts of town. As we know from an Earl Unmasked Isadora is an avid lover of horses and eagerly accepts the invitation for a day of adventure at the races. This meant I was drown down into the research rabbit hole of horse racing during the Regency period. I thought I'd share a few of the articles by fellow regency authors that I found rather interesting. Hope you enjoy them.

Since Isadora is never one to sit still... I'm looking forward to finding out what other mischief she will get herself into, that will result in me doing more research.

Lady Grace Ravensdale is the darling of London society — beautiful, gracious, and a celebrated piano prodigy. It’s no surprise that when she becomes engaged to a handsome concert violinist, it promises to be the wedding of the season. But Grace harbors a dark secret that she shares only with the keys of her piano — she’s in love with the gardener’s son. And after years of believing he died in the Boer War, Teddy has returned.

Theodore Nash grew up at Burton Hall in the shadow of the wild Ravensdales, loving Grace from afar until that one blissful summer long ago. But nothing would ever change the fact that he's the gardener's son and she's a beloved London socialite. Theodore didn't expect a hero's welcome after returning from war anymore than he expected to hear of Grace's engagement. Now he must decide to fight for her, or give her up for good.

With all of society against them...can their love survive?

Publisher's Note: THE LADY'S FORBIDDEN DESIRE is inspired by Secret Garden. It's a sexy slow burn, second chance romance between childhood sweethearts.

First, she’ll steal his belongings, then she’ll steal his heart.

The death of Euphemia “Effie” Green’s husband has left her impoverished and desperate. Disguising herself as a highwayman to make ends meet is risky, but with a young son and ailing aunt to provide for, she is willing to risk both her life and her freedom. That is, until she finds notorious rake Griffin St. John on the other end of her pistol.

Griffin has grown bored of a life of indulgence and idleness. He knows something is missing from his free-wheeling, bachelor’s existence but has no idea how to find it. Fate crosses his path with that of a widowed seamstress who masquerades as a highwayman in the dark of night. The mystery of Effie Green is too compelling to be ignored, leading Griffin to learn more about the woman who fleeced him of his valuables.

Offering to make her his mistress is outrageously inappropriate, but it’s the only way he can think of to keep her out of danger. Effie accepts Griffin’s scandalous offer, hoping to make a better life for her son while protecting the shameful secret of her crimes.

However, an arrangement of convenience and desire becomes complicated as Effie struggles to reconcile her past self with the woman she has become. Griffin finds himself realizing that a temporary arrangement will never be enough when both Effie and her son have stolen his heart.

Can these unlikely lovers make a happily-ever-after from the twist of fate that brought them together?

Welcome to book 1 in the exciting new series from USA Today Bestselling Author Elizabeth Ellen Carter.

William Musgrave, Duke of Auchen, is dying. When he goes to his grave, he will take with him the opportunity to right a wrong that has left Lady Ruby McAllister impoverished.

Ruby has the contract that pledged her father a one-third share in a successful Scottish textile mill. But Auchen never made good on his promise before Ruby's father died. Now Ruby has lost her beloved Strathaird, home to the McAllisters for centuries. Her only hope is to confront the duke before he dies. And her chance comes when a vacancy arises for a new night nurse in his London household.

Standing in her way is Seth Musgrave, the duke's estranged son, who despises his father for deriding him as an imbecile. In truth, Seth is the driving force behind his father's successful enterprise. William Musgrave has heeded no one in his life except for his wife. She died twenty years ago, but Ruby hears him call for her in his nightly delirium.

What if Ruby answered his call, pretending to be the only woman who could ever persuade the duke to do the right thing?

How long can Ruby keep her secret when Seth is trying to distract her with his kisses? And what if Seth learns the woman he’s falling in love with is deceiving the Duke?
