Romantasy is Leaving Kindle Unlimited on...

Romantasy for the win!

imageWelcome to the fantastical side of romance with magic and myth, ,

My KU term ends in June!

I'm getting back into writing again after struggling with my mental health. I'm regularly going to therapy, and trying to reframe the way I think about my author career. It's been disheartening to see a severe drop in readership this year, leading to discouragement and a feeling of failure that has triggered my depression. I struggle with depression outside of this issue, it is not an isolated thing, but writing has normally been a safe space for me. (Even with poor reviews that I try to avoid reading)

What really helped me keep writing as a safe space was knowing that people were reading my books and feeling connected with me through them. Regardless of if everyone connected positively, the knowledge that a majority of readers were having a positive experience and looking forward to my stories and that readership was growing, even if that growth was small kept me in a good headspace.

My very first month of starting my alien romances had one book in Jan 2023 that made $29.68. This month in April, I've made $18.32 across all 5 books.

My worst month for Taking Medusa was May 2024 making $5.90 the whole month, and this month it's made $3.67 in April 2025 and Breaking Fate made $4.40

It's disheartening to see a decline in readership, and with only making $2.00 in Kindle Unlimited pages read in the month, I've decided that it may be best for my mental health and saying that I did everything I could to expand my indie basket to make the switch to Kobo Plus and become wide while also offering my books available through my author store.

If you are an avid KU reader, and have Taking Medusa or Breaking Fate on your TBR, then now is the time to bump it up your TBR before I move them wide. It was a tough decision to make, but I truly believe that many of the KU readers have made a switch to stop supporting the platform, and I have to make some changes or risk putting all my eggs in one basket.

If you are a KOBO reader, get excited, because I'm going to be making the switch!

For those still using Kindle, please don't be discouraged because with being WIDE, I will have all of my books available from my author store, which means that you will be able to upload your book to whatever platform you want, including your Kindle. Best part is that you will own your e-book, because when you buy your books direct from Amazon, their new policy prevents you from downloading your books. It is no longer an option to move your books from Kindle, when you pay for a Kindle e-book you are only buying the right to read on the Kindle/Kindle App only.

But, I'm giving all KU readers a chance to borrow Taking Medusa and Breaking Fate with their subscription before I make the move to wide.

My current term on KU ends on June 23rd 2025 for Taking Medusa and June 28th 2025 for Breaking Fate!

Dive into a different reality, filled with magic, fates, and gods! Read Medusa's side of the story when her head is finally reunited with her body and the dark gods rise!

Getting too much email? Reply back to this email with "Monthly" in the message and I'll move you over to my once a month letter usually sent out around the 15th of the month.

Please do not click that SPAM button. I'm a small indie author, even 1 single spam complaint out of my small 3,000 sized list of subscribers sends my newsletter OVER the "green" zone of below .01%. Anything over this percentage causes other readers who want to hear from me to potentially not see my emails as it hurts deliverability to their inboxes.

You are on my email list because you opted in either by grabbing my free book, finding me on the interwebs, or by joining a book giveaway geared towards meeting new authors such as myself. If you found yourself here by any other means, you're welcome to unsubscribe at anytime. I do not go around adding emails all willy nilly. I'm a one-person show here, and can't afford to have people on my list that don't want to be here. I follow all guidelines and laws regarding newsletters.

Disclaimer: sometimes my links have affiliate tags associated with them, this in no way influences who I decide to share with you on my newsletter, nor does it impact your experience with discovering new books. If anything, any affiliate links used help authors, including myself, subsidize the costs associated with staying in business. For instance, using a tagged link helps us see whether someone found our books from our own marketing efforts or through some other means, also with Amazon specifically, that puts a couple extra pennies from grabbing one of our books back to the author from the big company. More of your money goes to the author, and your costs remain the same. My affiliate links have regularly covered the cost of maintaining this newsletter. So, if anything, click on a link for my books, and even if you are not buying my book, feel free to go about your usual Amazon shopping to help support my books through stuff you would normally buy anyways. Stick it to "the man" and support indie authors while you do it. This has been a PSA announcement from yours truly. Sky
