Happy Easter Weekend! In the spirit of fluffy bunnies, I thought about fluffy kittens and then that led to thoughts about claws, and now here I am about to talk about cat claws and alien appendages. Also, Indie highlight for Hope Paris and a fake relationship - enemies to lovers on Kindle Unlimited - Romancing the Billionaire. Also, some authorly updates and a question for you!
Now, about those cat claws. Cat's claws do not retract in the way that the word comes across. To retract would mean that the claws natural relaxed state would be extended, and it takes effort to retract them back in. But, cat's claws are naturally relaxed inside. So, it takes effort to push them out.
A cat's claw has the main bone in the paw, and two bones in between, then the bone attached to the claw. The tendons extendor and flexor attach to many other tendons to make the retracting claws function.
Essentially, for a necia warrior to have a WHOLE body of spikes within their second skin, would mean they have a whole body of extra bones to accommodate as well as a whole lot of extra muscles/tendons.
The necia warriors call these spikes epul, and because of how they function this makes them particularly bulky with all the muscles, and their bodies are built bigger than humans. Even females are taller and have more muscle, though more slender than the necia male warriors.
The necia also have epul nubs along their peen, though, they don't work quite the same way as the epul bones on the rest of their body. Where the epul from their shoulders, arms and thighs need those three bones to function, the epul on the peen are more like hardened cartilage that have tendons that react when certain conditions are met, filling and knotting. Like being seated deep within their mate. It knots within their mate, and even has enzymes it releases into the walls of the female to aid in making them relax and fall asleep once their orgasm is complete. This allows the sperm to have plenty of time to acclimate and produce offspring.

Thank you to the recent reviews from the ARC team coming in on Her Alien Prince, launching May 1st 2023! I'm honestly blown away by the support I've seen pouring in for this new release. I always strive to make my books better and better with each launch, and it brings happy tears to my eyes that I haven't had one ARC review have anything negative to say about this book.
I mean as an author we learn to grow a thick skin on getting those 1-star, 2-star, and even the average 3-star ratings. Every author expects them. Because we are bound to intrigue a few readers here and there that are not a good fit for the book.
Even my launch of Jewel of the Alien Bandit had an ARC reviewer that gave it a 2-star, and a few that gave it a 3-star, which was discouraging at first before an overabundance of supportive rave reviews came to squash those doubt monsters in the dust and lifted my debut book into the 4.4 average zon rating.
I'm so blessed that even the people that gave Jewel of the Alien Bandit a lower rating enjoyed my writing enough that they were excited to read book two! My 2-star reviewer applied to be on my ARC team for Her Alien Exchange and every 3-star reviewer, excepting one, read Her Alien Prince converting to a 4-5 star!

I don't know about you, but that shows me a lot about personal preferences on book one, and how much they enjoyed my writing enough to come back and be hooked into the universe with book two!
I'm just so touched. I have no words for how happy it makes me that people who really dig the alien romance genre are loving the story!
