Welcome to the smuttier side of romance books with alien peens and the mates that love them.
It's been a while since I've done a getting to know you newsletter, so I decided it was time. I did a who-am-I thing with the welcome emails, but that's only one slice of the zucchini, so to speak. (Getting to know you continues, along with milestone races, after the indie highlights!)
Also, Please keep your eyes peeled for the next newsletter coming the 21st! For one, that's my birthday, and secondly, I have presents for you!
First, I want to say my author pal Jennifer Julie Miller just released the next book in the DaR series and I'm in love with the cover. (For those of you concerned about AI, I've spoken with her and her cover designer does not use any AI in the making of her books.) I'm so excited to read this one! I've finally caught up on reading the whole series, and my favorites are still book two XuL, and book eight AvX. I'll just click that "read for free" button now on my Kindle Unlimited and (brow wiggle) Yuuush! I started this series reading book seven first, then went back to read book one, I definitely recommend reading in order!
(This series is not for the faint of heart, there are triggers in this series, but the world building is excellent, and the characters are well thought out, and the romance is sweet even in the darkest of times.)

UPDATE: I finished reading this last night! I will admit, Ember's character is hard to relate to in the beginning, but as her story unravels you can see her resilience, her strength, and her heart reveal itself wonderfully, and just like all of Jennifer's books in the DaR series, it was a great read darker alien romance in terms of what happens, but there is such a sweetness threaded through that you gobble it all up, and there are promises of more to come! Will we be getting SiN's story next?

Audiobook Currently listening: Ready Player Two (Though to be honest with you, the book doesn't have the same feel as book one, and I'm struggling to be motivated to continue listening. This one might be a DNF for me, BUT I love the narrator Wil Wheaton.)
Next Audiobook: Deciding between Flock by Kate Stewart and A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass. (Which one do you think I should listen to next?)
Currently writing: two alien romances and trying to decide which one is going to be the one that makes the cut for the Out of this World Anthology I'm part of. Her Alien Mate (a human and trill fated mate) and Allegiance with the Beast (still Trillume universe, but a new planet that hasn't been mentioned before, and the story is more culturally submerged with the whole human exchange on the planet itself, so less political intrigue of the universe and more relationship and intrigue of the planet itself.) The due date I have for myself is to finish one of these by the end of September and work on edits and sending to BETA typokiller readers in October. So that the book is ready to be sent to the anthology group by the due date of Nov 1st and this beauty will be available December!
About me: You probably already know I'm a mom of two humans in training, one is four and one is nine. I'm currently getting back into healthier habits because I've had an increase of migraines and overall health issues that I think can be better fixed with lifestyle changes and not simply medicating.
I ate a zucchini spiral noodle dish with teriyaki sauced turkey and steamed carrots and broccoli the other day... it was probably the most healthy thing I've had in a while and I enjoyed it. (definitely the teriyaki sauce, yum.)
I'm training for a marathon, I already bought my bib for it in July, and so I've got to increase my endurance to not die during this.
While, technically I'm a stay-at-home home to be able to take my son to his therapies and my daughter only has pre-school for a few hours a day, I consider myself self-employed in progress. Those few hours I have a day to myself, I narrate audiobooks for other indies, I write these newsletters to you, I get around 2,000 words a day written in the next book that sparks joy, and now four times a week my hubby and I either trade off to going running or drop the kids with one of our moms for an hour to improve our health.
My goal is to have my author/narration business being profitable so that I do not have to go back to work once my daughter is in school next year. And thanks to your support and being here on my newsletter, being part of my author journey, I think that's fully possible.
I started this pen name for spicy alien romances in January of this year!
I originally, only thought I would write a couple books and see how it went, and with your enthusiasm for the series, I've got three already released, and one free with joining this newsletter! That's four completed books all within a year! And I've got another one I'm working on having ready by next month for a December release in an anthology!
Plus, look at those ratings on the zon, Jewel of the Alien Bandit is at 86 ratings and Her Alien Prince is at 87, both with 4.5 average stars! That's 13-14 reviews away from my next author milestone of 100 ratings on the zon! And both books are so close, which one will get there first?
Her Alien Savior my latest release for a series just dedicated to the necia warriors, since they are an acquired interest with their exhibitionism tribal customs, didn't reach my lofty goal of 50 ratings within a month of launching, but we're at 29 on the zon! And technically, the goal was reached on Goodreads and currently has around 61 ratings, again averaging 4.5 stars!
I'm very blessed to have so many people read and enjoy a newbie author like me. Yes, I published my first book in 2018, so not new to writing, but new to this genre, and with a completely fresh pen name with no platform before now.
Fun fact: Though Sky Robert is new as of January of this year, it has doubled the platform reach of my original author platform S.M. McCoy, and surpassed income on the books I've published. Meaning, my other fantasy books before now have barely broken even on cost of launching them, and the Treasures of Trillume series has TWO books which are only $100 away from breaking even and finally becoming profitable! (I define profit as actually paying me for my time in writing and editing them.)
Shockingly: I have yet to actually be paid from my writing business for the time I've put into writing any of my books.
Don't be sad about that, like most businesses they are not profitable on a whole until a few years into business usually. Eventually, my writing/product will start being profitable (SOON for two of them) and that income will then go towards paying startup costs for launching this penname, the costs associated with that, and investing in the next launch! THEN, once startup costs are covered I can finally take out an owner's draw from my business and consider me a paid employee from all of this. That's how my spreadsheet works, and how many businesses work.

Jewel of the Alien Bandit: Gets the short end of the stick because it's the first book launch, includes audiobook adaptation costs, and startup costs for the whole platform.... automatically not going to win this Milestone, but it's income still goes towards startup costs. If I want to be fair to it, removing startup costs, and assuming it had same costs as Her Alien Prince then it'd be winning the race so far to breakeven at: (-42.85)
Which book will breakeven on their cost of publishing first and finally work towards startup costs? Let the milestone races begin!
I want to invest in adapting more books to audio, but as all my books have dual POV between the FMC and MMC, I have to wait until the books are in profitable status to cover the costs of hiring a male narrator to do the parts I can't... Unless, you all are okay with me doing my male narration interpretation, but I think it'll be sexier with an actual deep male voice, so I'd like to save up for it!
