A.I. taking over creative pursuits vs human made books

Welcome to the smuttier side of romance, , with alien peens and the readers who love them!

It's no secret that I do NOT support A.I. being used in any creative pursuits.

Among the many reasons is the ethics of using products being derived from sources not being compensated for their use. If you don't know about how A.I. is currently sourcing its learning data then that's a separate subject and I encourage everyone to look into it.

But, I guess it seems strange to me that A.I. is being engineered to negate pursuits that bring humans joy. My inner optimist would say that a better use of A.I. would be to assist humans in having MORE time to pursue things that bring them joy. Like having A.I. assist and be a companion towards things that bring happiness. Or helping humans accomplish their jobs in half the time, so that they work less and enjoy life more. But it seems weird to have A.I. be used to do the jobs that are a joy for people. I doubt many people who make art or write a book say that doing so is "work" but a passion that they can't quit.

I think A.I. is a marvelous thing that can benefit many creatives, but really the programs must compensate the creatives for their involvement in providing the data needed for the A.I. to function.

Just think... A.I. always needs more data and things to pull into its programming for "learning" and it takes thousands upon thousands of inputs to create something new. If using the program was a subscription service and tiered based on usage then, like Kobo Plus or Kindle Unlimited, the money could be pooled into a fund, and distributed to creatives that help feed the learning machine.

Also, I believe there will always be a market for "human" made, just like there is a market for "organic" food sources.

Though I can see a future where A.I. is an asset to creatives, I like supporting human-made and will continue to hire human cover designers, human artists, and human narrators for audiobooks.

I'm pretty much a one-woman show in my indie career, but I outsource out for my covers and character art, narrate my own audiobooks, and rely on my supportive editors/typo killers to help polish up my books.

Every penny that has come in for my books so far, has gone back into my author business, and helps launch the next book! And one day, I hope to save up enough to upgrade my website, and eventually pay myself and officially call myself a full-time author! <3

Most indie authors don't get paid for their time to write, edit, and market their books for a long time, if ever. I don't say that to get pity, or make someone feel guilt or anything. It's for transparency and to give indie authors a bit of grace, and appreciation. We survive because of your support, from reviews, to sharing our books with other readers, to grabbing a book so that we can afford to launch another one.

You, as a reader, create supply and demand for the books you want. If you want more from your favorite indies, keep being their cheerleader, because it may seem like a small gesture, but your one review could mean an indie author pushes through that tough writer's block, imposter syndrome, or extra motivation to write that day!
