Welcome to the fantastical side of romance with magic and myth, ,
Hi loves!
When I go to in-person events, I'm always surprised that Taking Medusa ends up being my number one book sold. Not because I think my other books are better or that I don't believe in the book, but because I'm usually attending spicy book events that lean more heavily towards monster romance, like my aliens from my pen name Sky Robert. But, what ends up happening is that Taking Medusa sells better than my aliens at events.
She is a monster, in mythology, but in my story she's the hero.
I'd say on average I sell around 10 Taking Medusa's at each event, and around half the readers want to take a chance to grab Breaking Fate at the same time. So around 10 new readers and 15 books.
While, my alien romances I end up having more readers, but the books are spread out. My best selling alien romance book is Her Alien Prince and I'm pretty sure it's because everyone loves a guy with horns, and wings. But, I usually sell around a max of 6 books of any individual book of my alien romances. With a total of around 30 books sold at an event, and half of them being my Medusa series.
Which, considering, I have 8 alien romance books that sell around 15 books during an event, it's pretty easy to count Taking Medusa as my front runner.
Events for an indie author are usually a marketing expense, or at best a break-even endeavor. Authors pay for their table, the banners, the swag, the cost of printing books, and usually we have high hopes and end up having way too much books on stock. lol. But, I consider any left over books, motivation to schedule the next event!
I have no idea if going to events actually helps build my readership at all. I do know that it's at least 20 new readers from an event, but who knows when or if they will get around to reading the book. I do them mostly for the joy and future motivation from moments when someone comes up to me and says that they already read a book of mine and loved it.
When I went to Hot and Steamy PNW, one such reader came up to me and said they already read Her Alien Savior and loved it, and it brought me a lot of joy, especially since that book is one of my more controversial titles considering it has an FFM seen in it before the fated mates actually get together. It also helps me going to events because Taking Medusa is one my least sold books virtually, having not been able to break even on launch costs yet, and every time I go to an event, I'm reminded that it's not because the book is bad, but because I just haven't reached my readership yet.
Taking Medusa out sells my alien romance books when readers actually know what it's about and get excited to read it. I guess I sell my books better in person than online. I'm a horrible marketing person virtually.
Give Taking Medusa a chance, if you haven't already. It's only 99 pennies through my author store, or through Kobo or Kindle, it's also available to listen to on Audiobook through Audible.

I'm officially moved to California! I've found my books among the boxes and am finally shipping out orders from my author store again. Thank you for your patience.
I'm now back to writing in my cave, and I'm excited to get back into the swing of things. The move really was a surprise, and took a few months out of my schedule, delaying a lot of my author progress, but I'm feeling much better about the state of things and finally have some time to get back to it! Looking forward to sharing the next chapter with you soon!
Happy reading, and perhaps you'll find your next favorite read among the featured indie author(s) below!

Hi, I'm Stevie. I'm a mom of two kiddos, and I write fantasy romance, and alien romances. I started with writing a YA vampire romance, and I retired the 3-book series because it wasn't the same kind of style as the rest of my books, and I didn't want those books to be the first impression readers got of my writing. I also wrote a sci-fi fantasy mash up Kingdom of Acatalec, got a traditional contract book deal, but it flopped because I wasn't and still am not that great at marketing things without more control over what I can do with my books. I received my book rights back and will relaunch that book with my indie control after I finish my Medusa Retelling Series.
The Dark Gods Rising is mythology reimagined if you are like me and believe that the "monsters" of myth and legend were hunted by Greek gods because they were different, because they were a threat to their power and rule. Perhaps, the monsters weren't the bad guys after all, and Medusa wasn't the villain myth made her out to be. There is always more than one side to every story.
Dive into a slow-burn romance, fast-paced fantasy adventure with all the political mechanisms of Greek Myth, and the what-ifs from a different point of view.
